Temperature calibration test for the infrared cameraMISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Center for Electro-Optics is to provide faculty, students, and industry in the State of Nebraska and the Nation with a nationally recognized Center in nano-machining/nano-fabrication and remote sensing.

GOALS

The major goal of the Center for Electro-Optics (CEO) is to be a collaborative research group providing excellence in nano-machining/nano-fabrication and remote sensing.  A "state of the art" core facilities has been established in both of these areas.

HISTORY

The Center for Electro-Optics was founded in 1987 in response to the Nebraska Research Initiative (NRI). The NRI was established by the Nebraska legislature to increase economic growth and diversification within the state by developing university resources.  Currently there are two major research emphasis in the center. One is in the area of nano-machining/nano-fabrication and the other is in remote sensing.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The Center for Electro-Optics has become a nationally and internationally recognized. To date, the faculty of the Center have published over 500 papers and have submitted over 350 proposals. The Center has been awarded research funds in excess of fifteen million dollars and has invested over seven million dollars in research related equipment. The Center for Electro-Optics has educated over 100 graduate students in a wide range of disciplines.
